Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
The Masoala Rainforest Hall is the absolute highlight. Go there first at opening — birds are most active in the morning.
The zoo is on a hill. Enter from the top entrance (near the tram stop) and work your way downhill.
The Children's Zoo has a petting area with goats and sheep, plus a playground. Plan 30-45 min.
Swiss prices apply — the zoo is not cheap. Pack a picnic to save money.
Free guided feeding sessions throughout the day. Check the schedule at entrance. Penguin and elephant feedings are most popular.

A Real Parent's Story
The indoor rainforest blew our minds
“Walking into the Masoala Hall is like stepping into Madagascar. Hot, humid, birds swooping, butterflies landing on your shoulder.”

Zurich Zoo is expensive but worth every Swiss franc. The Masoala rainforest hall is genuinely world-class — a climate-controlled dome with a whole ecosystem inside. Free-flying birds, massive butterflies, lemurs in the canopy. Our 5-year-old caught a butterfly on her finger. The elephant park is also spectacular with a pool they swim in.
