Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
The petting zoo opens at 11 AM — arrive early to beat the school groups and let your toddler feed the goats.
Bring cash. The cafe takes cards but the pony rides and animal feeding kiosks are cash-only.
The tropical house is warm and humid, great for winter visits but stuffy in July. Dress in layers.
Pack a picnic — the designated picnic area has tables under pine trees and is far nicer than the overpriced cafe.
The playground near the entrance is a lifesaver on the way out — your kids will blow off steam while you rest.

A Real Parent's Story
The goat that stole our hearts
“A baby goat followed our toddler around the petting zoo for a full 10 minutes. She named it ‘Fluffy’ and still asks about it. The zookeeper let us come back after hours to see the goats being fed.”

We’d heard Vilnius Zoo was small, and it is. But that’s its charm. The petting zoo is intimate — maybe 10 animals in a fenced area — but the zookeeper spent 15 minutes teaching our kids how to properly hold the guinea pigs. You don’t get that at a mega-zoo. The lemur enclosure is new and the walk-through experience is fantastic.
