Tips & Tricks from Real Parents

1

Arrive at opening and head straight to the sea otter exhibit - they do their morning feedings and are the most playful and active first thing.

2

The jellyfish exhibit is mesmerizing for all ages - the lighting changes colors and kids press their faces against the glass for 20+ minutes.

3

The 4D Experience theatre is fun but skip if your kid is sensitive to loud noises and water sprays.

4

The aquarium is part of Stanley Park - combine with the park's playground for a full day.

5

The 'Behind the Scenes' tour ($20 extra) is worth it for marine biology-obsessed kids ages 8+.

6

Bring a snack. The cafe is expensive ($12 for a kids' sandwich) and there are picnic tables right outside.

A Real Parent's Story

My toddler sat mesmerized by the jellyfish for 20 minutes

The jellyfish exhibit - dark room, pulsing lights, floating translucent creatures - held my 2-year-old's attention longer than anything ever has. She just pointed and said 'woooow' on repeat. It was magical.

We almost skipped the jellyfish room. It was at the end and my toddler was getting tired. Then we walked into that dark room with the glowing jellyfish. She froze. Pointed. Said 'wow' about 50 times. A staff member came over and explained how jellyfish don't have brains. She didn't care about the science. She just stared. We stayed 20 minutes. I'll never forget her face.
