Tips & Tricks from Real Parents

1

Rent a family bike (with a trailer or tag-along) at the Denman Street entrance and do the full seawall loop - it's 5.5 flat miles with incredible ocean and mountain views.

2

Second Beach has the best playground in the park - water park, huge climbing structure, and adjacent pool. It's a whole afternoon by itself.

3

The totem poles at Brockton Point are the most photographed spot in Vancouver - go early morning to avoid crowds.

4

The Stanley Park Miniature Train runs year-round and is themed for Halloween and Christmas. Book tickets online.

5

Third Beach is quieter and has a clothing-optional section - know before you go with kids.

6

Bring layers. The weather changes fast. Sunny to rainy to sunny again in 20 minutes is normal.

A Real Parent's Story

We biked the seawall and my 5-year-old never pedaled once

We rented a tandem attachment bike. My 5-year-old 'helped' pedal while I did all the work. But he felt like a champion. The look on his face when he saw the Lions Gate Bridge from the water - priceless.

The Stanley Park seawall bike rental was the best $45 we spent in Vancouver. My son sat on a tag-along bike attached to mine. He pretended to pedal hard. Every time we passed another family he'd yell 'I'm doing it!' He felt so grown up. We stopped at Second Beach for a swim, watched the sunset over English Bay, and biked back. That's the entire day - and it was perfect.
