Entry for our family of 4 cost less than $3. Pony rides added $2. We bought lunch at a nearby shashlik stand. Best $10 family day ever.

Tashkent Zoo is not flashy but it is honest. The enclosures are spacious if not luxurious, the animals look healthy and well-fed, and the grounds are beautifully green. Our kids spent an hour in the petting zoo feeding goats from their tiny hands. The snow leopards are stunning - we got lucky and they were pacing near the glass. Combine with a walk through the adjacent Botanical Garden and you have a wonderful, cheap family day out.
