Taipei Zoo is our regular weekend spot. For 100 NTD per adult it is absurdly good value. The panda house is the main attraction but my toddler was more captivated by the penguin house. One king penguin kept sliding off the ice shelf into the water over and over. The Formosan animal area is unique -- clouded leopards up close. The koalas are a highlight. Plan for at least 4 hours. The zoo adjoins the Maokong Gondola for tea mountain views after.
