A Real Parent's Story
The takin that became our mascot
“My son spent 20 minutes staring at the mounted takin. Now he draws them on every piece of paper he finds.”

We almost skipped the museum. The hike to Tiger's Nest was our main plan, but it was raining that morning. The museum turned out to be the highlight. Our son, who loves animals, discovered the takin — this bizarre creature that looks like a gnu-beaver hybrid. He stood in front of the display forever, reading every label. Now he draws takins everywhere. On school notebooks, cardboard boxes, even on a wall in his room (we were not thrilled about that last one).
