Tips & Tricks from Real Parents

1

Dress in layers — you go from 85°F Tropical Rainforest humidity to 45°F Sub-Antarctic within 50 feet.

2

The penguin feeding is at 11:30am daily — get to the Sub-Antarctic zone 15 minutes early for a good viewing spot.

3

Buy the Espace pour la Vie pass if you are also visiting the Insectarium, Planetarium, or Botanical Garden — it saves 30% on combined admission.

4

The Tropical Rainforest aviary has no netting — birds fly freely overhead and one might land near your kid.

5

Wednesday evenings in summer have reduced admission ($15 adults, free for kids) from 5-8pm.

A Real Parent's Story

Penguin parade changed our trip

The penguin keepers do an enrichment walk in the morning — the penguins waddle through the Sub-Antarctic exhibit while curious visitors follow. Our 3-year-old waddled WITH them. Full-on penguin walk. The keepers laughed so hard one almost dropped her clipboard.

We were on a long weekend trip and the Biodome was a filler activity between bigger plans. It ended up being the entire highlight. Our 3-year-old refused to leave. She wanted to watch the penguins swim (they zoom underwater incredibly fast). For her birthday the next month, she requested a Biodome cake — green ganache for the rainforest and white icing for the polar zone. The baker was confused. We weren't.
