Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
Book tickets online at least 48 hours ahead — you save 10% and skip the queue which can take 30+ minutes at peak season.
Arrive when gates open at 10AM and head to Penguin Beach for the 11AM feeding. Penguins are most active in the morning.
The walk-through Butterfly Paradise is a huge hit with toddlers but keep them on shoulders or they'll try to catch the butterflies.
Bring a refillable water bottle — there are free water stations throughout the zoo.
The Tiny Giants exhibit (insects/reptiles) is dark and loud. Test it alone first if your child is sensory-sensitive.

A Real Parent's Story
Penguin Beach made our three-year-old's entire year
“She stood frozen watching the penguins dive. Then one waddled right up to the glass and kissed her hand. She talked about it for weeks.”

We booked London Zoo thinking it would be a quick stop. Five hours later we had to drag our kids out. The penguin feeding show is world-class. Our youngest made eye contact with a penguin called Squiggles who followed her along the glass. We bought the annual pass on the way out.
