Day three in Kyoto and the kids were done with shrines. The aquarium saved our trip. The dolphin stadium is compact enough that every seat is a good seat, and the trainers clearly love the animals. The touch pool area has staff explaining each creature in Japanese and English. We spent 2.5 hours here and it was the happiest the kids had been all trip. Right next to Kyoto Station too — super convenient.
