Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
Go on a Thursday or Friday morning (weekend in Kuwait) when the zoo is most lively and all exhibits are staffed.
Pony rides are available from 9-11 AM only. Head straight to the children’s corner when you arrive to book a slot.
Bring your own water and snacks. The on-site kiosks are limited and overpriced.
The reptile house is surprisingly good — one of the better sections. Don’t skip it like you would at other zoos.
Avoid summer entirely (May-September). Most animals are moved to indoor enclosures and the heat is dangerous for young children.

A Real Parent's Story
The pony ride made my shy daughter giggle for the first time all trip
“She was nervous around the big animals but the pony was tiny and gentle. After one slow lap around the ring, she was waving at us like a princess. A simple moment that meant the world.”

Kuwait Zoo isn’t fancy by international standards, but it’s a solid local option for a Friday morning outing. The pony ride was the highlight for my 4-year-old — the attendant was patient and let her pet the pony before riding. The big cat enclosures are decent, but the giraffe area feels a bit small. For the price (2 KD), it’s good value.
