Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
The zoo is on a hill and has steep sections. Use the free ‘zoo bus’ that shuttles between the entrance and the upper section — it runs every 20 minutes.
The lemur walk-through is the highlight for kids under 10 — staff tell you exactly how to behave (no sudden moves, don’t touch) to keep the lemurs calm.
Elephant feeding demonstrations happen at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM — get there 10 minutes early.
Pack a picnic. The forest setting has dozens of benches and tables. The cafe food is basic and overpriced.
Combine with the Wolski Forest trails — there’s a marked 2km family loop that starts and ends at the zoo.

A Real Parent's Story
A lemur sat on my daughter’s shoulder
“A ring-tailed lemur hopped onto my daughter’s shoulder during the walk-through. She froze, eyes wide, then whispered ‘Mommy, I’m a Disney princess.’ The keeper let her stay inside for an extra 10 minutes.”

We almost skipped the zoo for Wieliczka Salt Mine — so glad we didn’t. The lemur walk-through is intimate, not crowded like some bigger zoos. About 8 lemurs roam freely while a keeper explains their behavior. My 6-year-old learned more about lemurs in 20 minutes than from any documentary. The zoo feels like a forest sanctuary, not an attraction.
