The petting zoo (sheep, goats, rabbits) opens at 10 AM. Go early before the animals get tired of being petted.
Bring a picnic. There are beautiful shaded picnic spots overlooking the lake. The cafe food is mediocre.
The Bible-themed signage is fascinating even for secular families. Each animal has its Biblical reference.

The Biblical Zoo is one of the best zoos I have visited anywhere. The enclosures are naturalistic, the animals look healthy and happy, and the setting in a green valley is stunning. The highlight was the Noah Ark playground near the exit our kids spent 45 minutes there.
