Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
Book Space Theatre tickets online at least 3 days ahead. The shows sell out, especially the Cantonese/English versions.
Pick the 'English' earphone option at the audio guide desk — many exhibits are trilingual but you want your kid to actually understand.
The Omnimax screen tilts over your head. If your child gets motion sick easily, sit in the back row and warn them before the rocket launch sequences.
Wednesday is FREE admission to the exhibition halls. The Space Theatre still costs extra but the main floor is completely free.
Combine with the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Avenue of Stars — all within a 5-minute walk along the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade.

A Real Parent's Story
The 8-year-old who now wants to be an astronaut
“We went for 'something to do on a rainy afternoon.' Three hours later, our son had watched the Omnimax show twice and was explaining gravitational slingshots to a bewildered grandpa.”

We were stuck indoors during typhoon season and needed a plan. The Space Museum seemed like a 45-minute diversion. Wrong. Our 8-year-old got hooked on the 'Rocket Zone' exhibit where you design a rocket and launch it on-screen. He kept getting better scores and refused to leave. The Space Theatre show about the James Webb telescope floored him. That night he asked for astronomy books for his birthday. Best accidental discovery of our trip.
