Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
Book Big Bula Water Park online in advance ($35 per person). Walk-up rate is $45 and they sell out on cruise ship days. Kids 5 and under are free.
Bring reef shoes. The sand is soft but the water entry has some small coral fragments that hurt bare feet.
Marina restaurants are expensive. Buy snacks from the small supermarket near the marina entrance or pack a cooler from town.
Rent a day bed at one of the resorts (Sofitel or Hilton, around $60 for a family) for access to their pool, towels, and showers.
Arrive by 9 AM to secure a good spot. By 11 AM the cruise ship crowds arrive and the beach gets busy.

A Real Parent's Story
The day we did nothing and everything
“We spent the day at Denarau doing exactly nothing. Floating in the lagoon. Letting the kids run through the marina fountains. Napping under a palm tree. It was the best day of our Fiji trip.”
We had grand plans for Fiji - island tours, village visits, waterfall hikes. Then we arrived at Denarau and our kids saw the fountains and the lagoon. That was it. We spent the entire day there. The kids alternated between the inflatable water park and the beach. We ate fish and chips at the marina. We napped under a palm tree. We did nothing. It was everything.
