Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
ARRIVE AT 7:30 AM when gates open. Pandas are most active in the cool morning. By 10 AM they are napping and you will only see furry lumps.
The red panda area is less crowded and arguably more fun. They stay active longer and are way more playful than the giant pandas.
Skip the volunteer experience for kids under 12. They won't actually touch pandas due to safety rules. Spend that time at the nursery watching baby pandas instead.
Book tickets online at least 3 days in advance. Same-day tickets sell out by 8 AM during peak season.
Use the North Gate entrance. It is much less crowded than the main gate and you see the nursery first.

A Real Parent's Story
My son declared he wants to be a panda now
“He sat cross-legged watching a baby panda roll off a platform, climb back up, and roll off again. Seven times. Then he turned to me and said pandas have the best job.”

The panda base is nothing like a zoo. The pandas have huge forested enclosures and the babies have their own nursery with climbing structures. My 4-year-old watched a baby panda fall off a log, roll, and immediately climb back to do it again, seven times. He laughed so hard he cried. Two years later he still talks about that panda that could not stay on the log.
