Tips & Tricks from Real Parents

1

Take a boat cruise to see the full Buddha from the river. It costs 70 yuan per person and gives the best photos without the scary staircase.

2

The Nine Turns Path has over 300 narrow steps with 1.5m drop-offs. Skip it with kids under 7 or anyone prone to vertigo.

3

Avoid rainy days as the stone steps become dangerously slippery.

4

Combine with Wuyou Temple right next door for a full day trip.

A Real Parent's Story

My 6-year-old counted every single curl on the Buddha's head

She counted to 89 before we lost count. She was certain it was exactly 100.

We took the boat option because our daughter gets scared of heights. As we floated past the Buddha she started counting the stone curls on his head. She got to 89 before the boat turned. She spent the whole ride back insisting there were exactly 100 curls and she just did not finish counting. A random stranger online told me later it is actually 1,021 curls. I am not telling her.
