A Real Parent's Story

Museum day in Bali - it actually worked

I was sure the Bali Museum would bore my kids. Turns out, making their own batik and trying on traditional dance costumes changed everything.

We needed a break from beaches and pool time, so I reluctantly took the kids to the Bali Museum. The museum itself is small - three pavilions that you can cover in 45 minutes. But the cultural center is where it gets good. My 7-year-old made a batik scarf she still wears, and my 9-year-old tried the gamelan percussion workshop and couldn't stop talking about it. The whole visit including workshop time was about 2.5 hours and cost us under $5.
